The CCFNI is a 46-item, 4-point Likert-type questionnaire with 45 specific items and 1 general item for respondents to list a need of their choosing not included on the questionnaire. It measures the needs of family members following the critical illness of a family member.

The FNS is a 35-item questionnaire on which parents of disabled children indicate their needs for information or varying types of support.
