The CCFNI is a 46-item, 4-point Likert-type questionnaire with 45 specific items and 1 general item for respondents to list a need of their choosing not included on the questionnaire. It measures the needs of family members following the critical illness of a family member.

The CSAI is a 25-item Likert-type scale evaluating willingness of adult primary caregivers to use community services in the care of disabled and/or terminally ill family members.
